Today I decided to exercise by window shopping
For a few weeks now, I have been browsing every Watson’s and Guardian Store that I see on the way home = to see if they have any natural tooth paste, such as Vicco tooth powder (from India).

Herbal tooth paste
After 3 Watson’s stores and 2 Guardian stores, I found a Herbal tooth paste – at Guardian’s Store at the Change Alley in Raffles CBD. And you cannot easily see it from the stack of normal flouride tooth pastes. There are only a few tubes and its stack up high, that if you are not really on the look out- you would not find it. I like the fact that it has herbal ingredients such as Neem, Clove, Thyme, Bettle,Tea Tree Oil, etcetera, but it has SLS!! I am going to write them and request that they create a new product line without SLS– consumers need to be educated that foam is not an indication of cleanliness! that SLS is bad for the body! So, do not ruin a good product by adding SLS, no matter how small the amount is. Herbal is Herbal! Leave all the unnatural ingredients to Colgate! For now, I will just make a compromise, and see if the product is good and provide my reviews later.

Disclosing toothpaste
I am also pleasantly surprised that they have disclosing toothpaste. When I was in my primary (elementary days), I used to get lots of disclosing tablets from our school dentist. And I enjoy competing with my neighbors in being the first one to clear the pink stains every time. Its been a while since disclosing tablets are made available in the market and not even dentists are proactively offering it to younger children anymore. Its a very useful tool, proof being me, not having to suffer a tooth ache or tooth decay, probably because of my rigorous brushing (when I was young) motivated by the thrill of removing the pink stains from the disclosing tablet. A good foundation of oral hygiene should be established while children are quite young. Bring on all the disclosing toothpastes and tablets (without SLS and flouride of course!)
Am going to try these new products tonight!

Here is the email reply from Jay Khialani of Oral Kare
Dear Lanie
Good news, there is the DAY and NIGHT toothpaste available with no SLS or sweetener. Dentists will not support a non-fluoride toothpaste so it has toothpaste in it. You can find this at selected Watsons stores.
Best regards

‘really clean teeth’
I would always keep stock of the Oral Kare products (because I like the taste and I like its herbal ingredients– all the other un-natural ingredients ==considered as a compromise).
At this point my
first preference = Vicco Tooth Powder
second preference = my home made tooth paste (bentonite clay, papaya powder and baking soda)
third preference = Oral Kare products
I also like the fact that the CEO of Oral Kare responds quite fast to feedback from consumers. I also like the Mission and Vision of the company. I will definitely support companies like this by recommending to friends who will find it too peculiar to use brown tooth powders and still wants the fresh minty taste of tooth pastes with out the flouride and with added benefits of herbss.
