Moringa cuttings for sale Trial Price: 10 sgd

April 12, 2012

Selling at a trial price of $10sgd (until supply lasts). Some of the cuttings are planted on recycled materials or plastic pots

The cuttings are from mature trees (more than 3 years old) in front of our house and is planted on recycled pots with light and sandy soil (from Bukit Timah Hill and our DIY compost). It is ready for transplanting.

Each pot with the 2-3 month old cutting planted on healthy soil costs 10sgd each. You have to pick it up from our house at 87 jalan asas Fuyong Estate at the back of Rail Mall along Upper Bukit Timah Road. Email me first at nanay@live.com.sg or write a message here before dropping by.

If you live in a HDB or condo, you can transplant your cuttings to a big pot or a pail just like below..prunning and keeping it at this height.

After 35 days this is how a moringga tree from a cutting look like. The leaves are ready for harvesting. This small tree starts from 30 sgd each

Compared to trees planted from seed, trees from stem cuttings grow faster. That means a 90 cm cutting, on 1st May, and then you can harvest the leaves on 5th June (about 35 days). The leaves will grow back again in 35 days. If you want to harvest moringga daily from a small tree, then plant 35 small trees… 🙂 Harvesting only from one small tree per day.

If you live in a landed property, you can grow 3 bigger trees, so you can harvest moringga daily.

excerpt from treesforlife.org:

Transplanting

The ground where the trees are to be planted should be light and sandy, not heavy with clay or water-logged.
Dig a hole 1 ft (30 cm) square and 1 ft deep. Backfill with loose soil. Adding compost or manure will help the trees grow better.

1.Water the planting holes one day before transplanting the seedlings.
2.Plant seedlings in the late afternoon to avoid the hot sun the first day.
3.Make a hole in the pit to accept all soil in the bag. Carefully cut open the sack and place the seedling in the planting hole. Be careful to keep the soil around the seedling’s roots intact.
4.Pack soil around the seedling base.
5.Water only lightly for the first few days.
If the seedlings fall over, tie them to a stick for support. Protect young saplings from termites and nematodes.

Once your tree is past its 1st birthday, you can start your own cuttings.
