Breast Thermography Screening- instead of Mammogram

March 28, 2010

Breast Screening need not be painful, invasive (meaning that your breast will be poked and squeezed) and need not be treated with radiation.

This is how, we would like to share what we have learned as we battle breast cancer. If you want to have peace of mind, have your breast screened for abnormalities. Before cancer takes place in your breast, it should start with some level of abnormalities, then 8-10 years on the onset of that abnormality, it becomes a full blown cancer. As you, know today, there is no known, clinically tried cure for breast cancer. All we can do now is to prevent it from happening and intervene, even before cancer sets in—at a point when you already see some abnormalities.

Take note that mammograms, can only detect cancer at its early stage, it cannot detect abnormalities. Other than that, mammograms uses radiation, which is quite know to cause cancer.

So, if you are going through an Annual Health Screening, skip the mammogram and do Thermography instead. And if you want to know your risk of getting Cancer of any type, without Xrays, MRI/CT/PET SCAN ensure you have Tumour Markers as part of your Annual Health Screening Package. Testing for Tumour Markers are done through blood tests. Find Health Screening Centres that will provide you a comprehensive analysis of your results (HDL/LDL ratio, Thyroid, Liver functions as well.)

Breast thermography is a 15 minute safe & non-invasive test offering the earliest screening possible.  Its role in breast cancer and breast disorders is to help in early screening and monitoring of abnormal physiology and the establishment of risk factors for the development or existence of cancer.
This procedure empowers women to make decisions at the earliest moment possible and to take a pro-active approach to their health through nutrition, hormone balancing and healthy detoxification.
Through these life saving steps and with consulation with their doctors and health practioners women can take action to improve their breast health and overall well being.

Take note that most conventional doctors, whether Singapore or the Philippines, will not advice you to change your diet or nutrition to intervene in breast abnormalities even in breast cancer. Try to find doctors who practice Integrated Medicine, practicing both medical oncology and naturopathy/homeopathy or nutrition therapy.

If you have already undergone a mammogram, and been diagnosed with Breast Cancer, do not go straight to the Surgical oncologist (their bread & butter is to cut), again go to a medical oncologist who practices naturopathy/homeopathy or nutrition theraphy. This oncologist may or may not refer you to a surgeon, but at least you will have informed decision before you go under the knife.

In this photo album, you will see a comparison of Breast without Abnormalities (Type 1 right, Type 1 left) and Breast with abnormalities and malignancy (Stage 2B Breast Cancer on the right breast) (Type 5 right, Type 3 left).

Breast Thermography is a hundred dollar more expensive than mammograms ($150 for mammogram, about $215 for thermography). But at least you save yourself from a dose of radiation. I am not sure though if the company insurance covers thermography. Anyway, I do not care if insurance covers this or not, I would still prefer thermography to mammogram.

In the Philippines, breast thermography costs around $100. I’d say it’s worth the money to get screened for prevention and monitoring. Check http://medicalinfraredthermographyphilippines.com

hi anna marie, tried calling Thermography Asia, but no response… you can also try Breast Ultrasound with elastography at Changi Hospital (you have to insist on it though.. as most of the hospital staff will insist on mammogram first, but as a “patient/ customer”, they should follow the rule of customer is always right..

Updates: Dr. Tan Su Ming is now the Head of BReast Surgery in Changi Hospital..before your first visit, nurses will call you and ask you to go for mammogram first, if you do not agree with mammogram, on your first visit Dr. Tan Su Ming would do a routine ultrasound without the elastography and will ask you to go for mammogram first as “Mammogram is still the gold standard (with emphasis added in diagnosing breast cancer)”.. she would not do the elastography without the mammogram. “enough said”.

To all the women out there, do NOT have yearly mammograms done, as it causes injuries to our breasts, which can in turn cause cancer (as written in the book entitled “What Your Doctor May Not Know About Breast Cancer” by Lee M.D. ), and also yearly exposure to mammograms will increase our risk of breast CA by 12%. Breast thermography is a better way, otherwise, do a monthly self examination (Lam Wah Ee Hospital {Penang}’s website has a guide under General Information, immediately after your period for premenopausal women and choose a regular date every month for post menopausal women. Mammograms also gives a high percentage of false negatives (as in my case, and here in Penang I was asked to go for it even though i can already feel the lump and my surgeon already saw the lump in the ultrasound as well and based on his experience he already suspected that it was malignant and eventually the biopsy would already be able to give a more accurate result) and false positives thus they’re highly inaccurate. Should you or anyone you know is diagnosed with breast cancer / any other cancer (which i hope that you never get it of course), i implore you or that person to do plenty of research on alternative treatments as even not going for chemo n radiotherapy a cancer patient is more likely to survive longer than going for it !!! But even if you are diagnosed with cancer, its really not the end of the world, do NOT panic if you are and rush into chemos n radios without doing your research first. Besides for breast cancer, it usually spreads very slowly so even though you may be slower by a year in detecting it versus doing a mammogram assuming it was accurate, you would still have time to do something about it. And also get some tips from mercola’s website. Just google mercola + whatever cancer. You would also need to do a complete cancer cleanse (meaning use everything natural and chemical free including your cosmetics, pesticides (if you do any gardening) besides eating everything biodynamic (better than organic) or organic (if you cannot afford, then at least wash your veggies with a wash that gets rid of pesticides and eat fruits that have the least pesticides such as pineapples & mangoes). By the way, drinking tea three times a day (ensure this is organic / better still biodynamic as tea has the most pesticides) can reduce a women’s breast CA risks by 50 % !
