Nanay’s Diagnosis Functional Liver Detoxification Profile

May 25, 2011

Continued from Early Detection for Liver diseases

Just came back from our Endocrinologist to find out the results of her FLDP test.

Here is a summary of Nanay’s Liver Diagnostic Tests
• Ultrasound showed liver, kidneys and spleen (I am pretty sure this is normal – test tomorrow)
• Liver Function Tests (LFT) showed normal – as of 24 April 2011 (test ordered by Oncologist)
• Functional Liver Detoxification Profile (FLDP) showed significantly abnormal Phase 1 – based on 24 hour urine test taken last 24 April 2011 (test ordered by our Endocrinologist upon my request)
My intuition is correct, although the tests ordered by the Oncologists shows no evidence of disease, there is something wrong in her liver (at least how she metabolizes certain toxins and nutrients).
Here is her Detoxification Capacity Profile

Liver Detox Pathway & Supportive Nutrients

Phase 1 (Oxidation ) is 2.1 *H  TOO FAST
Phase 2 (Conjucation  all within normal range (not too fast, not too slow)
Suspicion:
1.) Induced cytochrome P450 enzyme system
2.) Phase 1 detoxification/Increased exposure to toxins
3.) Gut- derived toxins/leaky gut
4.) Enzyme inducers: tobacco, alcohol, barbiturates, sulphonamids, cruciferous vegetables, charcoal-broiled foods
5.) Increased production of free radicals
Consider the following actions
1. Purify home and work environment
2. Consider Intestinal Permeability test and Digestive Stool Analysis (DSA) test to rule out gut-derived toxins
3. Increase intake of anti-oxidants
4. Nutritionally support Phase 2 pathways to prevent build-up of toxic intermediate metabolites
Our endocrinologist, did not give us any supplement or drug at all, as he wants to really know the real issue, we would take actions 1 & 3 for the meantime. Then on 6th June Nanay will do the Intestinal Permeability test to rule out leaky-gut syndrome.

I am glad I have made my own research prior to the visit with our endocrinologist. Refer to the discussion here :
Liver Detoxification Q&A between Doctor and patient

Although, I did not memorize the questions, the discussion I had with the doctor led me to ask the same questions and I was satisfied with how he answered my questions. So, when I checked back my notes, I was not surprised that the questions and answers were in-sync. Hah! Science is an art, the process of finding the cause is quite interesting and fascinating, if the doctor is willing to do that extra mile to educate you and not just dispense drugs and supplements.

taking action #1: changed Nanay’s soap to Dr. Bronner’s soap. I will continue to find soaps, shampoos, detergents and dishwashing liquid that are organic.

    http://www.natural-health-information-centre.com/sodium-laureth-sulfate.html

action #2: we will see Dr. Homer Lim or Dra. Valeros for parasite and intestinal cleaning (seems to be aligned with the theory that Cancer is caused by parasites, fungi, virus or bacteria). Then go for internal permeability test on 6th June to rule out leaky gut syndrome.

action #3: see Dr. Lim or Dra. Valeros for B12 injections and find out if we can purchase B12 vials from them and if they can teach us how to self-administer it. Dr. Lee also adviced her to take dark green vegetables with high sulfur component as it helps in the Phase 1 pathway. — a for sure the Gerson Green Juice and the Moringga/Malunggay juice is just right for this.

action #4: since the Phase 2 pathway- is normal. I am not sure if we should take any action to make it faster (to keep up with Phase 1). For now, we will focus in slowing Phase 1 a bit and let Dr. Lee tell us what to do next when her internal permeability test is out sometime in June.

as of date, we have already confirmed that Nanay have leaky gut syndrome based on the Internal permeability test taken in June. While chelating mercury, I also found out that mercury can cause abnormal FLDP (or phase 1 and phase 2 metabolism) , as well as leaky gut syndrome.

    regards,
    Lanie

Where did you get the FLDP test done? Did you have to give her certain substances – acetaminaphen, caffene, etc. and then collect the urine? How did she handle it?

Yes she had to take extra ordinary amt of caffeine to go through fldp.. She felt really ill at that time.. Took her abt 2 weeks to fully recover.. Email me nanay@live.com. Sg

my mom has stage 4 ovarian cancer and I wanted to know if you can give me Dr Homer Lee Lim’s number. The number we got from the website of the Philippine Institute of Adv Cancer Is not working. She is having a difficult time breathing and no longer adviced to have chemo or surgery. We wanted to try this alternative treatment for her. Hope you can email me back the soones

I was trying to figure out your blog above and read the explanation in http://healthyawareness.com/thread-liver-detoxification-pathways and now it POPPED why the Budwig diet somehow works. Quote from the Geendrinkdiaries’ blog explanation. “Dr. Budwig discovered that when she combined sulfur-rich proteins like cottage cheese with highly unsaturated fatty acids (rich in omega-3′s) like those found in flaxseed oil, the unsaturated fatty acids bonded molecularly with the sulphuric proteins. This bond made the flaxseed oil water-soluble, enabling it to be absorbed instantly and effortlessly through the cellular membrane. In turn, the instant flood of vital nutrients and essential enzymes to the cells (remember, the enzymes were what was missing in the first place) acted as a spark that re-ignited their ability to burn oxygen, thus restoring ALL cells to a healthy aerobic state – INCLUDING cancer cells!” Because BUDWIG’s cottage cheese is RICH in sulfur which combined with flax oil made it absorbable by our cells and LIVER needs that sulfur too to process the toxins!! Does it makes sense? And the enzymes…..everywhere I read is that our body needs enzymes…thus the Kelley’s protocol uses enzymes as one of his main treatment! I hope I makes sense.

SeaShells.. my Nanay was also on Budwig Protocol during the first 2 years of her diagnosis… as well as the modified Kelly Enzyme Protocol.. all the protocols Nanay went through have one thing in common live enzymes from raw organic fruits and vegetables(you need not buy imported fruits and vegetables — just buy local fruits and vegetables in season (and ideally grown biodynamically– even better than organic)..

and yes to all the healthy fats (ideally plant fats) — flaxseed oil can also be made water soluble in other ways (perhaps cottage cheese was the healthiest of animal fats– thanks for your input– helps me too as for the last few days I don’t have much time to read, study and analyse.

No problem. Just that Budwig was not mentioned (so far from where I read) in your blog. Glad you confirmed it now.

Alternative to cottage cheese — onions and coconut…you trigerred me to research about it

cottage cheese = sulfurated proteins… onions=sulfur.. coconut oil= protein (Havent researched enough if this really produces that required amt of sulfurated proteins in the Budwig original recipe..

however this alternative recipe was created by Budwig herself..file:///C:/Users/User/Downloads/classic-oleolux-recipe.pdf

Oh…it makes me wonder if our own virgin coconut oil is good enuff substitute for flax Oil. Wish someone can come up with and test a local version of budwig for tropical country using locally available ingredients. The Flax Oil and Cottage cheese are sooo expensive for us.

      • May 31, 2014 4:37 pm

there would be an imbalance in the omega 3 and omega 6 ratio .. flax oil is a plant source of omega 3– coconut oil on the other hand is rich in omega 6–we dont want too much of the same thing… in the oleux case cottage cheese was substitiuted with coconut oil and onions..

in many articles I read it seems they say the purpose of the cottage cheese is not only for the sulfurated protein but also the lecithin in it which liquefies the flax oil..

MH- Master Herbalist uses sunflower lechitin syrup to achieve the same (make the oils water soluble)… he mentions olive oil (which is mostly omega 9) and coconut oil (mostly omega 6)–but he also takes a lot of walnut based products which is also rich in omega 3s so it helps to balance out..

your right,, it seems I didn’t write about Budwig..(and didn’t give it the attention it deserves) as at that time, Nanay was running on instincts.. she just followed one of the alternative doctors we met in the Philippines.. at that time am not sure how Budwig diet fits into the puzzle.. and sometimes when she eats her cottage chees/flax seed concoction and spreads it over boiled potato or bread… I just pray to God that it helps her — as honestly I cannot find a logical explanation (or maybe I was looking at different directions)…recently tho a Herbalist kept reminding me about the benefits of good healthy fats (particularly coconut oil and olive oil) —he also does not have a logical scientific explanation– except that like dissolves like.. so good fats dissolve bad fats– makes sense to me… but your insight made it a bit more plausible.. perhaps I should really trust Nanay’s instincts more and more

I also have to add it tastes really good=== much better than mayonnaise.. in fact I might just pop into my favourite organic store and buy Cottage Cheese (we still have flax seed in our fridge) … 😀

by the way– I shared it in a forum (to which I was kicked out due to my strong alternative stand)…

Haha…I am also trying to figure things out and why! One of my sifu (Good Samaritan of curezone) got kicked out also by a skin forum where he said eczema were curable! I hunt him down and Thank God I found him and managed to heal my eczema naturally without drugs or creams!! Anyway, keep up the good work. You definitely out a lot of time and resources to analyze things and you have good writing skills not like me. Hahaha….

Hi Lanie, may I ask when your mom did Budwig, was she also taking her supplements (vitamins and etc)? Did she also try B17/Laetrile? By the way, where do you buy your cottage cheese in Manila? Do you know if cottage cheese made from buffalo the same as cow?
